Salisbury Christmas Market returns to the heart of the beautiful city of Salisbury for its sixth consecutive year. The Market comprises of 70 chalets with choices ranging from intricate jewellery to beautiful handmade furniture, delicious mince pies and luxurious liqueurs. Most of the goods being sold are produced in Britain the emphasis very much on unique and desirable gifts for Christmas, food and drink most of which is supporting the home economy. A friendly market ambassador will direct you to places of interest within the picturesque medieval city on arrival. Home by approximately 7.30pm.

DICKENSIAN CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA

Today we visit to the fascinating city of Rochester, explored and loved by Charles Dickens. Today, it is alive with festive atmosphere, handbell ringers, Christmas carols, morris dancers, street entertainers, hot chestnuts and characters in Dickensian costume. There is also a Christmas Craft Fayre with numerous stalls and Rochester Christmas Market held in the castle precincts and gardens. We return home after the traditional open-air carol service, arriving back in Enfield by approximately 7.30pm.

LONDON’S CHRISTMAS LIGHTS & SIGHTS

Our traditional tour of “London’s Christmas Lights” that breaks for tea at London’s Cable Cars with the opportunity of making the return journey across the Thames (£5.00 extra). We then continue, through Canary Wharf, to the South Bank Christmas Market and Royal Festival Hall with the opportunity of enjoying the many stalls and Thameside Vistas before returning to our coach for a glass of sherry or soft drink and mince pie. Suitably refreshed we enjoy a tour of London’s Christmas Lights seeing Trafalgar Square, Regent Street, Oxford Street and Mayfair. Home by approximately 9.00pm.

WINCHESTER CHRISTMAS MARKET

Drive direct to Winchester to spend the day at one of England’s best Christmas markets organised and held in the precincts of the ancient cathedral, burial place of Saxon Kings. Browse the many stalls, soak up the Christmas spirit and explore the many alleyways lined with a tempting array of old-fashioned shops and boutiques for which Winchester is so well known. Home by approximately 7.30pm

CHRISTMAS SPARKLE AT KEW GARDENS

A magical festive evening of glittering lights awaits you at the magnificent gardens at Kew get a beautiful seasonal makeover. Christmas at Kew brings illuminations to light up the buildings and trails and planting. The mile-long trail will lead visitors past dancing, lit-up fountains and decorated Christmas trees. There are vintage rides, Santa’s Grotto, Christmas gifts and Christmas carols. Traditional festive treats and refreshment also abound. Please note that as this event is held outdoors you have sufficient warm and waterproof clothing and that some of the lighting sequences will have flashing lights. Home by approximately 9.30pm.

Enjoy the atmosphere of this Belgian town at Christmas time when the shops are bedecked with traditional handmade lace, chocolates and decorations along the boutique-lined mediaeval streets. Time to shop, see the sights and enjoy the local cuisine – not to be missed! Home by approximately midnight. See page 5 for further details of passport requirements and additional stops. About 3 hours is spent in Bruges dependent upon ferry schedules and customs.

We return to the Cricketers at Clavering for our Christmas Luncheon. The restaurant is owned by Jamie Oliver’s father and is where Jamie got his first ‘appetite’ for cooking. During the morning drive we pause for a complimentary glass of sherry as we select from the menu (not only turkey!). We arrive back in Enfield by approximately 4.30pm.

LONDON’S OLYMPIC CABLE CARS AND THE POSTAL MUSEUM MAIL RAIL

Today we are pleased to present two of London’s newest attractions. Our first stop is near the Excel Centre where the new cable cars cross the Thames and also where the Crystal has been built. This is a very futuristic building illustrating what life will be like in the year 2050. Pop in for a coffee... We rejoin our coach to drive to Mount Pleasant where the old sorting office has been turned into the brand new, state-of-the-art Postal Museum. Here we can enjoy an incredible collection spanning five centuries and covering everything from quirky technology to the intimacy of personal letters. The highlight of the afternoon will be a ride through the hidden tunnels of mail rail – a unique piece of industrial heritage that kept London’s communication network flowing for over 75 years. Time for tea before arriving home by approximately 6.30pm.
