After stopping at Pidou near Calais for wines, beers or spirits we shall drive to PJ’s in Belgium renowned as the place to buy cheap tobacco products and chocolates. We shall then drive the short distance to Ostend - the Queen of seaside resorts. There are numerous pavement cafes, bars and restaurants nestling around the harbour and Fisherman’s Quay, the place for seafood. We have about 3 hours in this vibrant resort. BEDFORD MARKET

Why not shake off those Winter cobwebs and enjoy a day out with Enfieldian as we visit the bustling Bedford Market. The market is set by the River Great Ouse and Bedford was given its charter to hold markets 800 years ago by Henry ll. The markets spreads into the pedestrianised shopping areas around the Harpur Centre, a collection of 38 shops built in the facade of the 19th century Bedford School. There will be time for lunch, shopping and sightseeing before stopping for tea amongst the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire countryside. Home by approximately 6.30pm

CITY OF WORCESTER

After the success of the last two years City Season Openers to Nottingham and Lincoln we shall ‘kick start’ 2019 with a visit to another of our historic cities – namely the city of Worcester. Its cathedral was started in 1084 and is one of the loveliest in England overlooking the River Severn and the cricket ground and offers Free Entry. Also set in the heart of Worcester is The Commandery where the past is brought to life in the Royalist Headquarters of the battle of Worcester in the English Civil War in 1651. There is also the Royal Worcester Porcelain Museum and shop and situated in the heart of the city you will find The Crown Gate Shopping Centre on Friary Walk and Chapel Walk offering everything from big name stores to independent surprises. So come and enjoy the afternoon at one of Englands hidden gems the home of Elgar, Worcestershire Sauce and Royal Worcester Porcelain. Home by approximately 8.00pm.

ISPWICH MARKET AND THE STOUR VALLEY

Ipswich set on the River Orwell, has a vibrant and compact town centre full of unique independent shops and leading high street stores. There is much to see from its beautiful parks, museums and the Christchurch Mansion to its medieval streets, churches and the striking new waterfront skyline. During the afternoon we shall make the short drive to Dedham in the Stour Valley for a cup of tea before arriving home by approximately 7.00pm.

A COTWOLDS DUET BURFORD AND BROADWAY

Today we offer a scenic tour that visits two of the Cotswolds most attractive towns and enables us to enjoy the beautiful Cotswolds scenery. We shall stop for lunch and sightseeing at Burford, a pretty bustling little town on the river Windrush in West Oxfordshire and often referred to the as the ‘Gateway to the Cotswolds’. We shall then drive through the charming scenery of the Cotswold Hills to our tea stop at Broadway. Broadway is a large village in Worcestershire with a wide grassfringed main street and known as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’. Home by approximately 7.30pm.

STEAMING ON THE POPPY LINE OR CROMER OR SHERINGHAM

Either enjoy Cromer, the delightful Norfolk resort with its narrow streets and beautiful sandy beach or spend the afternoon at Sheringham. This small fishing village is the terminus of the Poppy Line steam railway to Holt which follows the coastline through an area of outstanding natural beauty. So either enjoy the train ride or spend the afternoon in Sheringham. Home by approximately 8.30pm.

ROYAL ALBERT HALL AND WINDSOR

Today we shall enjoy The Grand Tour of the Royal Albert Hall. The hour long tour offers a fascinating journey into the Albert Halls rich history, astonishing architecture and legendary performances. Highlights include the Queens Box, the Royal Retiring Room, the main auditorium and Gallery. The tour includes coffee and pastry in the Verdi Restaurant on arrival. After our tour we continue our royal theme by driving to Royal Windsor for refreshment and the remainder of the afternoon. Home by approximately 6.30pm.

STAMFORD MARKET

Stamford in Lincolnshire remains still ‘the finest stone town in England’ its prosperity drawn from the wool trade and its historical position being halfway between London and York. The first town to create a conservation area has meant that much of its historical architectural heritage has remained intact. It has formed the backdrop for such television costume dramas as Middlemarch and Pride and Prejudice. Friday is Market Day in the Town Square and combines with many independent shops and many pubs and restaurants to give an ancient and vibrant atmosphere to this bustling town. We shall return through the rural countryside stopping for tea enroute. Home by approximately 7.30pm.

THRIPLOW DAFFODILS AND COUNTRY FAIR

You may walk the car-free village to look at the daffodil displays, visit the attractions and open gardens and potter around the stalls. Refreshments are served in the tea rooms with homemade cakes and sandwiches or delicious hot street-food can be eaten in the Taste of Thriplow while listening to live music. Craft exhibitions and displays of country pursuits make this a truly rural event. Home by approximately 6.30pm

HITCHIN MARKET RURAL RIDE

Join us today for a leisurely rural ride not far from home. We shall visit the beautiful historic market town of Hitchin on Market Day. The market is set in the shadow of St Marys Church, the largest parish church in Hertfordshire and the Market Place is cobbled and surrounded by old traditional buildings dating back to the 15th century. Tudor and Georgian buildings surround the town creating the beautiful look that Hitchin is so famous for. There is time for lunch and shopping in this attractive town before continuing across the Bedfordshire uplands stopping for tea at the Willington Garden Centre. Home by approximately 6.30pm.

EASTBOURNE AND THE CUCKMERE HAVEN

We stop in elegant Tunbridge Wells for coffee and then drive across the Ashdown Forest to arrive in Eastbourne for lunch and a breath of sea air along the long, wide floral promenade. During the afternoon we enjoy glorious views as we drive across Beachey Head and around Seaford to stop for tea in the old smuggling village of Alfriston. LEEDS CASTLE – THE LOVELIEST CASTLE IN THE WORLD

We shall drive direct to Leeds Castle in Kent to discover almost 900 years of history and explore 500 acres of beautiful parkland and gardens at ‘the loveliest castle in the world’. So come and enjoy this Norman castle used by Henry Vlll and Catherine of Aragon, the maze and grotto, thrilling falconry displays, punting on the moat and more. Refreshments are available in the Castle View restaurant or the Maze Cafe and Grill or at Costa Coffee. Home by approximately 6.30pm.
