Berwick and the Scottish Borders

A relaxing break situated in the stunning countryside of the Scottish Borders and staying at the Blue Bell Hotel, Belford. This is an old 18th-century coaching Inn that is steeped in history oozes rustic charm and provides the comfort that we expect from a 3-star hotel.
Monday: Northwards along the Great North Road stopping for coffee at Brampton, lunch in Newark and tea in Thirsk before driving around Newcastle to reach our hotel quietly situated in the village of Belford near the border town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
Tuesday: Today we explore the Northumbrian coast by travelling across the causeway to Holy Island and then visiting the unusual town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed. It is noteworthy for being the only English town north of the River Tweed and is still surrounded by its original walls built to keep out the Scots. Its football team is the only English team to play in the Scottish League.
Wednesday: A full day circular tour around the Scottish Borders by way of Coldstream, Kelso, Scotts View, Melrose (lunch) and Duns (tea).
Thursday: Drive direct to Durham with time for sightseeing and lunch. The tour is scheduled to arrive back in Enfield Town by approximately 7.30pm.

BRIGHTON - SUSSEX BY THE SEA

Stylish Brighton is one of our oldest seaside resorts where we can enjoy all the seaside fun including the Palace Pier, the fabulous Royal Pavilion now restored to its 1823 splendour, the amazing Observation Wheel giving us a remarkable view along the south coast, the famous 'Lanes' lined with antique shops and boutiques and Churchill Square Shopping Centre. A delightful tour that takes us through the beechwoods of the Chiltern Hills to join our boat at Maidenhead for a relaxing cruise along the Thames to Royal Windsor with time for lunch and perhaps a visit to the famous castle. Alternatively you may enjoy the shops or take a walk along the promenade and over the bridge into Eton, famous for its public school and old-fashioned shops. Home by approximately 6.30pm.

If you do not want to travel too far but fancy a breath of sea air and a walk along the promenade, we offer the opportunity of five hours beside the sea at our nearest resort whose latest attractions include the Pier Hill Observation Tower and a completely rebuilt promenade running from the Kursaal to the famous pier. BURY ST EDMUNDS – WHITSUN FAYRE AND CONTINENTAL MARKET

After the great success of last year’s tour join us in the market place alongside the Abbey Gardens for the Whitsun Fayre at Bury St Edmunds. Over 50 stalls displaying flowers, plants and all sorts of gardening equipment and ornaments vie alongside stalls laden with continental goods and produce. There is street entertainment and food stalls all displayed against the backdrop of the Abbey and its wonderful gardens. Home by approximately 7.30pm.

ARUNDEL’S CARPET OF FLOWERS AND LITTLEHAMPTON FOR TEA

The opportunity to enjoy the glories of this beautiful town situated on the banks of the River Arun and dominated by its castle and cathedral. Today the cathedral will be ablaze with flowers in celebration of the Festival of Corpus Christi which includes the unique carpet of flowers that stretches the length of the centre aisle. After lunch and time for a browse in this olde-world town or a stroll by the river we shall drive along the Arun Valley into Littlehampton for a breath of sea air and some tea.
